Wordley Martin, a leading developer of equestrian properties and premier riding surfaces, has completed an extensive arena renovation project at the HITS Hudson Valley showgrounds in Saugerties, New York. The renovations, which were started in March 2024, were completed in less than two months in order to be ready for the facility’s busy 2024 show season. Wordley Martin co-founders Sharn Wordley and Craig Martin have expanded their private arena construction business, which included rings for Olympic-level riders in jumping, dressage, and eventing, to include competition showgrounds that have earned rave reviews from riders and trainers.

Five arenas at HITS Hudson Valley that total more than 250,000 square feet were renovated in 2024. During the last two months, Wordley Martin has guided HITS through its second phase of renovation at HITS Hudson Valley; the first phase was completed in Spring 2023. Wordley Martin also completed improvements last year at HITS Ocala’s Post Time Farm in Ocala, FL.

“Once again it has been a pleasure to work with HITS to help transform their facility,” said Martin. “It’s gratifying to see them continue to offer the best for their customers.”

Wordley added, “We want to help provide the foremost possible experience for exhibitors at HITS, and that includes our own horses that compete at their venues.”

The Hunter Stadium and its adjacent schooling ring were completely renovated in order to provide an enhanced experience for hunter riders. The stone wall-lined arena will be brand new for riders entering the ring for the first time this year during the HITS-on-the-Hudson Spring Premier show on May 17-19.

The Hudson Ring, along with the corresponding schooling ring, was expanded and updated utilizing Wordley Martin’s premium footing blend to create the new Pond Ring and will serve exhibitors competing at all levels of the sport.

“The level of expertise and attention to detail that Wordley Martin provides is second to none,” said HITS COO Joe Norick. “All equestrians know how important footing is and Wordley Martin has given our exhibitors the best possible surface on which to practice and compete. After last year’s successful first phase of renovation, we were excited to continue upgrading more arenas with them overseeing every step.”

Competition at HITS Hudson Valley begins May 17 and runs through September 15, 2024. For more information, please visit HITSShows.com.
