The United States Equestrian Team (USET) Foundation, the philanthropic partner of US Equestrian (USEF), will host the “Tee Off to Tokyo” Golf Classic—a USET Foundation benefit event—at The Wanderers Club in Wellington, FL, on Monday, February 22, 2021. Presented by Ethel M Chocolates and Lugano Diamonds, in participation with some of the sport’s most accomplished athletes including Olympic Gold Medalists McLain Ward and David O'Connor, the event’s proceeds will directly support the USEF High Performance programs and the U.S. equestrian teams traveling to Tokyo, Japan, to compete in the rescheduled Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2021.

Next year presents some of the biggest hurdles athletes and teams have ever had to face as they focus not only on Tokyo, but also on discipline championships and the 2022 World Championships, the first opportunity to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. With this in mind, a committee of dedicated supporters and athletes co-chaired by Jim McNerney, George Davis, and Hal Kamine, designed the event to be a memorable day of fundraising and competition.

“The past year has tested the U.S. equestrian teams, but it also gave us the chance to prove just how resilient we can be,” said Jim McNerney, Chairman, President, and CEO, USET Foundation. “While we still face financial challenges ahead, I’m excited at the opportunity for supporters and athletes to come together at the “Tee Off to Tokyo” Golf Classic to help drive our teams forward on their path to Tokyo.”

“With so many discipline championships and the rescheduled Games, 2021 will be the costliest in the U.S. equestrian team’s history,” said Bonnie Jenkins, Executive Director, USET Foundation. “I am glad that we will be able to host what I’m sure will be a fun day of competition and camaraderie, all in support of our teams as we move forward full-throttle with preparations for Tokyo, as well as providing for the Developing athletes and programs critical now for the Paris Olympic Games in 2024.”

Varying levels of participation are offered, including the opportunity to play with an Olympian and sponsorship opportunities for individuals, stables, and businesses to get involved including closet to the hole, longest drive, hole sponsors and even sponsoring the beverage and snack cart. The day will begin with a breakfast buffet, practice range, and golf competition, and will conclude with a luncheon and awards ceremony.
