Entries are open for the 2023 Capital Challenge Horse Show.

Entries for the 2023 Capital Challenge Horse Show, to be held September 28-October 8, at Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD, are open and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. To submit entries or to learn more about the electronic entry process, please visit Show Management System™. Entries close on September 3, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. EDT. The prize list for the 30th annual show is available online now at capitalchallenge.org.

“We are looking forward to celebrating 30 years of being the first stop on the indoor circuit and hosting top hunter, jumper, and equitation competition,” said Capital Challenge co-founder and show manager Oliver Kennedy. “We are grateful for our wonderful and loyal group of sponsors and exhibitors. Their continued support has allowed us to expand what we offer over the years in terms of classes, prize money, and hospitality.”

The 11-day horse show begins on Thursday, September 28, with Equitation Weekend, presented by BIGEQ.COM. Equitation Weekend will continue through Sunday, October 1, featuring the EMO Insurance Agency/United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Final – East, the Palm Beach International Academy (PBIA) North American Junior Equitation Championships, the North American Adult Amateur Equitation Championships, and the Taylor Harris Insurance Services (THIS) National Children’s Medal Finals. New for 2023, the North American League (NAL) Children’s Hunter Finals, presented by Charles Ancona, and NAL Adult Hunter Finals, presented by Lauracea, will also take place during Equitation Weekend.

Starting on Monday, October 2, Capital Challenge will showcase the nation’s best hunter horses and riders for regular hunter division competition as well as the World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Hunter Challenges. Throughout the week, the show will offer WCHR Hunter Challenge classes for amateurs, adults, juniors, children, ponies, professionals, and developing professionals.

The highlight events on Wednesday, October 4, will be the $10,000 WCHR Developing Pro Challenge, sponsored by John R. Ingram Fund, and the $25,000 WCHR Professional Challenge, sponsored by The Gochman Family. The top professional hunter riders in the country will then compete in the $25,000 WCHR Professional Finals, sponsored by The Rein Family, on Friday, October 6, following the Ariat National Adult Medal Final.

The $25,000 KASK/Vogel 3’ and 3’3” North American Green Hunter Championship, sponsored by The Wheeler Family, will also be featured on Wednesday, October 4, with the future stars of hunter sport taking the spotlight.

In addition, the Capital Challenge Horse Show will highlight adult, children’s, amateur, and junior jumpers. Thursday evening’s schedule will include the $10,000 NAL Children’s Jumper Final, presented by EquiFit, and the $10,000 NAL Adult Amateur Jumper Final, presented by SmartPak. The $10,000 NAL Low Junior/Amateur Jumper Final and the $10,000 Medium Junior/Amateur Jumper Final, presented by Parlanti, will take place on Saturday evening, October 7.
