Robin de Ponthual, ridden by Peter Lutz of the United States, was named the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Award winner at the 2017 Live Oak International in Ocala, FL.

Equis Boutique, a luxury tack and apparel shopping experience, is sponsoring the Best Presented Horse Award for the second consecutive year at each International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Horse Inspection held at top FEI-sanctioned events held throughout the United States.

The FEI Horse Inspection for the Live Oak International, sanctioned as a CSI3*-W by the FEI, was held Thursday, March 9, at Live Oak Plantation. The FEI Ground Jury was led by President Cesar Hirsch (VEN), who also co-founded Equis Boutique in 2014. After evaluating the appearance and condition of 107 horses from 16 different nations, the Ground Jury selected Robin de Ponthual, owned by Katherine Gallagher and Michael Meller, as the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse.

Robin de Ponthual, a 12-year-old Selle Français gelding (Elf d’Or x Calypso d’Herbiers) that jumped to a top-20 finish at the 2016 FEI World Cup™ Final in Gothenburg, Sweden, was prepared for competition at the Live Oak International by Chuy Escalera. Robin de Ponthual joined Lutz’s string three years ago, and Escalera has been caring for the horse ever since.

Of Escalera, Lutz noted, “He has been with me for almost six years and is very dedicated. He loves the horses, takes great care of them, and understands how to prepare for the horse show.

“He is also great in that he helps me as the rider,” continued Lutz. “He knows Robin so well that he has a lot of input on how the horse is feeling. We take pride in the horses looking healthy and well-presented, and make an effort to arrive at the jog like we arrive at the ring, ready to show and do well. We appreciate being acknowledged for that.”

Escalera was recognized for the Equis Best Presented Horse Award with a commemorative vest while Lutz was presented with a $100 gift certificate to Equis Boutique.
