Peter Petschenig and Wannabe CS Dominate the $75,000 Coca-Cola Beverages Florida Grand Prix at World Equestrian Center – Ocala

Peter Petschenig (AUT) and his own Wannabe CS bested a field of 44 horse-and-rider combinations to claim victory in the $75,000 Coca-Cola Beverages Florida Grand Prix on Saturday, January 6, at World Equestrian Center – Ocala during the Winter Spectacular V show in Ocala, FL. Petschenig and the 10-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding successfully completed the first course, designed by Peter Grant (CAN), and advanced to the jump-off with five other competitors. The pair was third to return for the jump-off and did several impressive tight turns while also leaving out strides to stop the clock at an unbeatable time of 45.813 seconds.
“I haven’t ridden Wannabe CS in a lot of jump-offs,” explained Petschenig. “He won a grand prix a few weeks back, and that was the first time I rode him fast, but he is actually game. I wasn’t sure if I could keep him quiet because he can get really aggressive, but he handled it really well.”
James Arkins (AUS) rode his own Eurostar 1 to second place after stopping the timers at 47.217 seconds. Todd Minikus (USA) and Bit By Bit Group’s Amex Z earned third-place honors with an impressive time of 43.393 seconds but with an unfortunate rail for four faults.

Manuel Torres and Enrico Blue Shine in the $10,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix
Manuel Torres and Lara Gabrie’s Enrico Blue secured the win in the $10,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix on Saturday. Peter Grant (CAN) designed two technical tracks where only three entries went double clear of the 43 horse-and-rider combinations that were in the class. Torres and the 13-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding produced a fault-free first round to advance to the jump-off. The duo stopped the timers at 37.035 seconds to win the class by a three-second lead.
“The course was very challenging, and not many people went clear with really nice horses,” said Torres. “Enrico Blue has been winning a bunch of classes in the last three weeks, so I was very pleased with him today. This is probably the biggest course that he has jumped so far, and he was super.”
