Santiago Lambre (MEX) scored a one-two finish on Saturday, March 6, in the Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club $75,000 Grand Prix 1.50m, taking first place aboard Comtess and second place aboard Easy Girl. Both mounts jumped double-clear to land in the top two spots, but it was Comtess, the 10-year-old mare owned by Lambre, who jumped over a second faster than any other jump-off contender. “All four horses that I rode in the class jumped great," said Lambre of his successful night. "I had two horses that had four faults and I was lucky to have two in the jump-off. Tonight, it was not a crazy fast jump-off like the other week. I lost one grand prix at the beginning of the winter by running to the last fence, so I thought I would stay more conservative tonight. There were no inside turns and I saw that there was one clear before me, but the time wasn’t crazy fast. I wanted to keep the rails up.” Third place went to Bryn Sadler (USA) and Cinven CR.

Izzy Beisel Bests $7,500 WEC – Ocala Futures Prix 1.40m

Topping the $7,500 Futures Prix 1.40m on Saturday, March 6, was Izzy Beisel (USA) with David Beisel's Ammeretto. Beisel and the 15-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion rode to a double-clear finish two seconds faster than any other jump-off contender. “Ammeretto was great today," said Beisel. "It was funny because when we were walking the course, my dad told me that he would likely be cantering on the wrong lead and bucking heading to the first fence in the jump-off, and sure enough, he was. He ended up deciding to canter on the right lead, which was nice. He’s a smart horse; he knows which way he might be turning after a jump." Jumping to second was Morgan Ward (USA) and Levin, and David Cameron (AUS) and Wellington Grey Goose finished third.
