For the second consecutive week, Kristen VanderVeen (USA) topped the $75,000 WEC – Ocala Grand Prix 1.50m on Saturday, February 20, this time aboard Bull Run's Prince of Peace, the 12-year-old Holsteiner gelding. “I think it’s great that WEC is doing night classes, it helps bring along the horses that need to gain experience under the lights, like mine," said VanderVeen. "You don’t typically see that until you’re at the highest level, so it’s awesome to see WEC listening to the riders that wanted to get experience under the lights.” Second place went to Sharn Wordley (NZL) aboard Gatsby, and in third was Kady Abrahamson (USA) aboard Any.

Shannon Sullivan Secures the Win in the $7,500 WEC – Ocala Futures Prix 1.40m

Topping the $7,500 Futures Prix 1.40m on Saturday, February 20, was Shannon Sullivan (USA) and her own Downtown's Main Event, the 14-year-old Polish Warmblood gelding. “I had such a good time today," Sullivan said of her win. "I walked my course and it just felt like it was going to be a little tough. I tried to stay careful in my first round, but not too slow, so I could make it into the jump-off. He shines in the jump-off. He loves to go fast and jump off of the inside turn. He loves to take a risk. I’m so excited that we got to do that. It was a super fun ride, especially here at this beautiful venue.” Taking second was Izzy Beisel (USA) aboard Ammeretto and in third was Kirk Webby (NZL) and Brando du Rouet.
