Karen Polle of Japan was named the Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider following the $391,000 CSI5* Douglas Elliman Grand Prix held Saturday night, March 9, at the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, FL.

Polle qualified to compete at “Saturday Night Lights” with a top-10 finish in Thursday’s $134,000 CSI5* Equinimity WEF Challenge Cup Round 9 riding Sari, an 11-year-old Selle Français mare (Ninio de Rox x Timorrak des Isles) owned by Kinoshita Group. The duo returned on Saturday evening to finishing as runner-up in the featured event of Week 9.

In recognition of her Leading Lady title, Polle was presented with a bottle of champagne, bouquet of flowers, and gift certificate for a shopping spree at Hunt, Ltd.

“Winning this award is so exciting and I’m thrilled with how my horse jumped this week,” said Polle, 26, who was just fractions of a second off the win behind winner Daniel Bluman (ISR) on Ladriano Z. “Sari is also a lady, so I’m sharing this award with her.

“It’s really nice to be recognized for the consistency that we had this week,” continued Polle. “I had one time fault in the qualifier and a time fault is a rider error so I felt that I let her down, but I was glad that I was able to let her shine tonight.”

Jolicoeur, who was recently named the No.1 realtor in Wellington and in Florida overall as part of the elite Douglas Elliman Real Estate Sports and Entertainment division, specializes in Wellington properties and has supported WEF as an integral sponsor for the past nine consecutive years. Throughout WEF, the Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award, given in memory of fellow realtor and horsewoman Dale Lawler, is presented weekly to the high-score female rider based on performances in the weekly WEF Challenge Cup and grand prix events.

With only three weeks remaining in the winter season, the Martha Jolicoeur Overall Leading Lady Rider Award will be presented during WEF 12 to the female rider who accumulates the most points throughout the 12-week circuit. So far this year, Erynn Ballard, Laura Chapot, Margie Engle, Tiffany Foster, Lauren Hough, Eve Jobs, Beezie Madden, and Jessica Springsteen have earned the weekly honor and have set their sights on claiming the overall title.
