KASK Equestrian Helmets has continued its recent expansion into the North American market by adding young professional show jumping athlete Andrew Welles, 28, to its roster of sponsored riders.

KASK is known for developing, designing and manufacturing helmets of the highest quality and safety standards for activities ranging from downhill skiing to cycling. Launched in 2004, KASK has experienced a successful evolution in a short period of time, most recently breaking into equestrian sports and expanding into the North American market.

Welles, who is based in Kentucky, first saw KASK equestrian helmets on top European riders, but it wasn’t his first introduction to the brand.

“I downhill ski and tried a KASK a couple of years ago,” recalled Welles, 28. “What I like in particular is that KASK fits so securely. I’ve seen some falls where helmets slip back on a rider, and they might as well be wearing a baseball hat at that point.”

Following success at Tryon International Equestrian Center, the Devon Horse Show and the National Horse Show, Welles is looking forward to a promising season in Florida this year.

“We tend to follow the warm weather in North America, and we are always looking for something cool,” said Welles, who will spend his winter competing at the 2016 Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL. “KASK offers that, and is adjustable, but is also one of the safest-feeling helmets I have ever worn.”

“Styles in the jumper ring today are very different than 15 years ago,” continued Welles, who joins fellow American Spencer Smith as a KASK-sponsored rider. “Being a trendsetter is a good opportunity, and I am proud to be a part of something new in this country.”

Welles noted that helmets designed for equestrian sport continue to evolve, and he is proud to be part of that continuing movement as a KASK ambassador.

“Andrew embodies exactly what we were looking for in a sponsored rider: an emerging professional with a competitive presence at major horse shows across America,” said Gianluca Caron, KASK North American Brand Manager. “We have been pleased with the quick growth that KASK has made in a competitive market. The upcoming season will be an exciting one for our riders, our brand, and for equestrian sport.”
