The second week of international competition at the World Equestrian Center – Ocala came to an exciting conclusion under the lights on Saturday evening, July 2, as Evan M. Coluccio (USA) ran away with the top prize in the $140,000 Coca-Cola Beverages Florida Grand Prix CSI3* aboard Hampton Green Farm LLC’s Valdes Z. World Championship course designer Alan Wade (IRL) set the challenging track to cap off an action-packed week of competition during the 2022 USEF Summer Series Week IV. The original starting field of 32 combinations was whittled down to just seven who produced clear efforts to advance to the jump-off. Ultimately, Coluccio and Valdes Z captured the win with a double-clear performance in a blazing time of 36.98 seconds.

“He is only nine years old. All of this is still pretty new for him. I got him toward the end of last year and began showing him this winter,” Coluccio explained of his mount. “He’s been very consistent and has been knocking on the door. He deserved that win. He has been trying his heart out for me, and I am beyond grateful to be able to ride him.”

He continued, “I have had such a wonderful time here and I am already looking forward to coming back. This facility has the potential to hold some of the biggest championships, and I hope to be a part of them.”

Santiago Lambre (BRA) piloted his own Pampero to second place in the class with a time of 37.39 seconds. Third place was awarded to Natalie Dean (USA) and Marigold Sporthorses LLC’s Chance Ste Hermelle after the pair stopped the timers at 39.75 seconds.
