Condor C, owned and ridden by Debbie Stephens (USA), was named the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Award recipient during the Tryon Summer II CSI4*, held June 7-11, 2017, at Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) in Mill Spring, NC.

Equis Boutique, a luxury tack and apparel shopping experience, sponsors the Best Presented Horse Award at various FEI-sanctioned events throughout the United States.

The FEI CSI4* Horse Inspection for Tryon Summer II was held Tuesday, June 6, at TIEC. Led by President Steve Sarafin (USA), the FEI Ground Jury evaluated the turnout and condition of horses jogging for FEI competition and chose Condor C, a 12-year-old grey Holsteiner stallion (Cassini I x Caretino) groomed by Victor Castillo, as the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Award winner.

Castillo has worked with Stephens since the 2016 winter season and is a past winner of the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Award having also won the honor with Condor C during the third week of the 2017 Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL.

“If I had to describe Victor and how he works with the horses in one word, it would be ‘meticulous’,” said Stephens, who owns and operates Centennial Farm based in Palmetto, FL. “He is very conscientious of every detail from making sure the horses wear their magnetic blankets, to icing and hand-walking them.”

Stephens has had the ride on Condor C for nearly a year and was honored to have won the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Award twice in that time period.

“The fact that Equis Boutique gives this award is amazing because what they are doing is being a visionary company in saying that it is not just the person riding the horse in the ring who is important,” said Stephens. “Showing is a team effort and the care you give the horses is often a good reflection of how they go in the ring. It is so important for the caregivers to be recognized. They don’t do it for the award; they do it because they care about that horse.”

Castillo and Stephens were honored for the Equis Best Presented Horse Award in a presentation ceremony during the Tryon Summer II CSI4* with Melanie Bonk of Equis Boutique.
