Horses bred in Canada, Mexico, and the United States that will be competing in the professional hunter divisions, green hunter 3’ and 3’3” divisions, the KASK/Vogel North American 3’-3’3” Green Hunter Championship, WCHR Professional Challenge, and the WCHR Developing Professional Challenge at the Capital Challenge Horse Show have the opportunity to earn the Connaway & Associates Equine Insurance Services, Inc. High Point North American-Bred Horse Award providing that their breeding information is correct and up-to-date in the horse show office.

"Producing quality hunter and jumper horses takes time and dedication, and it’s fantastic to see how much North American breeding programs have grown throughout the past several years,” said Connaway, an amateur show jumping competitor who has bred many of her previous grand prix-level mounts. “I’m grateful to be able to continue my partnership with the Capital Challenge Horse Show to celebrate the accomplishments of these horses and their breeders.”

The 2023 winner was SVF Inaugural, ridden by Maria Rasmussen of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and owned by Kristen Hamel’s Sunset View Farm LLC, of Richfield, WI. The seven-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding bred by Heidi Smilde and H2 Sport Horses LLC, of Lexington, KY, scored an 83.25 over fences in the Green Hunter Colts & Geldings division to capture the award.

The 2024 High Point North American-Bred Horse Award will be presented on Friday evening, October 4, prior to the popular $25,000 WCHR Professional Finals competition.
