There was a packed house at the WEC Grand Arena at World Equestrian Center – Ocala on Saturday evening, January 27, 2024, for the $100,000 UF Health Grand Prix. After two thrilling rounds of competition, it was Dorothy Douglas (USA) with her mount MTM Pablo that galloped away with the win, marking the pair’s second victory during the 2024 Winter Spectacular Show Series.

An impressive field of athletes representing nine countries contested the intricate course designed by Ken Krome (USA). Fifth to go in the starting order, Douglas delivered the first clear performance aboard the 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Perigueux x Contendro I) owned by Davenport Farms. Nine combinations followed suit, bringing the total to 10 for the the deciding jump-off. As the pathfinders of the short course, Douglas and MTM Pablo repeated a fault-free effort, leaving the remaining competitors chasing their time of 41.243 seconds. Ultimately, they could not be caught, and the night once again belonged to Douglas.

“I didn’t have to dwell on how many strides did they do here, or how quick were they there,” explained Douglas of her mindset going first in the jump-off. “I wanted to be efficient, and I wanted to be clear. I knew ‘Pablo’ felt on his game, so I stuck to my plan and trusted it. It’s an incredible feeling knowing that Pablo has not only stepped up to the plate to compete in these classes, but now he’s proven to be a consistent grand prix winner. I couldn’t be more proud of him.”

Friday night’s $15,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix winner, Sharn Worldey (NZL), this time riding Champion League, an 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Cador 5 x Contendro I) owned by Della Wordley, finished in second place, stopping the clock in a swift 42.473 seconds. Jordan Coyle (IRL) claimed third place with Millview Cicero, a 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding by Cicero Z Van Paemel owned by Bronte Stables Ltd, in 42.539 seconds, just a tenth of a second behind Wordley.
