Chloe Reid secured the Martha W. Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award on Saturday, February 5, during week four of the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, FL.

Reid of Wellington, FL, accumulated the highest number of points among all female athletes competing in the $50,000 Adequan® WEF Challenge Cup Round 4 on Thursday, February 3, and the $216,000 Bainbridge Companies Grand Prix CSI4* held on Saturday, February 5, on the grass derby field.  Riding Souper Shuttle, Reid jumped double-clear to finish third in Thursday’s class and earned an eighth-place finish on Saturday.

In recognition of winning the Leading Lady Rider Award, Jolicoeur presented Reid with a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers, and a gift certificate for a shopping spree at Hunt, Ltd.

“It’s really exciting to be here and receive this recognition,” said Reid, 25, of winning the second Leading Lady Rider Award of her young career.  “The last time I won the Leading Lady title I was under 21 so I didn’t get the bottle of champagne!  My horse was super consistent both days this week and I am really proud of her.

“I got ‘Shuttle’ when she was just turning eight years old,” continued Reid of the 11-year-old Hanoverian mare (Stakkato x Luise Marie) owned by Live Oak Plantation LLC.  “Before last season we had never jumped more than a two-star grand prix, and then last year at WEF we jumped through the five-star level.  She continues to surprise all of us.  She rises to the occasion every time you walk into the ring.  I’ve also recently started doing my own program so to come out here and prove to myself that I can do this really means a lot.”

A long-time sponsor and dedicated supporter of horse sport at WEF for many years, 2022 marks Jolicoeur’s 12th season presenting the Leading Lady Rider Award.  A former competitor herself, Jolicoeur enjoyed a successful international show jumping career before becoming Florida’s number one Douglas Elliman real estate broker.

Throughout WEF, the Martha W. Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award, given in memory of fellow realtor and horsewoman Dale Lawler, is presented each week to the female athlete who earns the most points in the weekly WEF Challenge Cup Series and grand prix events.  During the final week of WEF, the Martha W. Jolicoeur Overall Leading Lady Rider Award will be presented to the female rider who accumulates the most points throughout the 13-week circuit.
