Catalina Peralta and Conti Top WEC’s $50,000 Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club and Royal Shell Real Estate Grand Prix

Exciting equestrian sport filled the WEC Grand Arena on Saturday evening for the $50,000 Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club and Royal Shell Real Estate Grand Prix. Eighteen-year-old Catalina Peralta of Geneva, FL, rode Conti, a 15-year-old Holsteiner gelding owned by Wendy Peralta, to her first career grand prix win. Camille Maddrix and Jack Straw, M&M Sporthorses’ 11-year-old Selle Francais gelding, placed second, while Hayley Waters and Chuck Waters’ 12-year-old Warmblood gelding Just Luck were third.

Earlier on Saturday afternoon, the WEC Grand Arena hosted 20 horse-and-rider combinations for the $7,500 Futures Prix 1.30m – 1.35m. Seven pairs qualified for the jump-off, and it was Karl Beyer of Ocala, FL, and Hannah Matts’s Emeraldo, an eight-year-old Warmblood gelding, who took the win in the class over Gemma Paternoster riding Charming Force B and Rebecca Conway with Stakkatisa.
