The 2018 Capital Challenge Horse Show will host the second annual United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Final – East on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 28-29, at Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD.

The USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Final was created in 2017 based on the popularity of the USHJA 3’3” Jumping Seat Medal classes held at horse shows throughout the country. Following the great success of the inaugural East Coast final, held at the 2017 Capital Challenge Horse Show, Capital Challenge again won the bid to host the year-end final.

"Last year's Finals were so well received by members, and we're excited to bring them back to Blenheim [for the West Coast final] and Capital Challenge," said Robin Rost Brown, chair of the USHJA Joint Equitation Task Force. "This is such a tremendous opportunity for riders to get the Talent Search experience at the 3'3" fence heights, and we look forward to another great year and experience for everyone who qualifies."

Riders qualify for the USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Final when they have accumulated a minimum of 10 points in a USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal class from Dec. 1 of the current competition year to 60 days prior to the final. The final consists of three phases: Phase I (Flat Phase), Phase II (Gymnastics Phase) and Phase III (Jumping Phase) that will be held over two days.

“We had a great response to the 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Final last year at Capital Challenge; I think it really even exceeded expectations as far as interest and participation in the class,” said Capital Challenge show manager Oliver Kennedy. “We dedicate the opening weekend of Capital Challenge to equitation riders of all levels, so having the opportunity to hold this class as well is a natural, great fit, and we’re really looking forward to hosting it again this year.”

In addition to the USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Final, Capital Challenge’s Equitation Weekend, sponsored by BIGEQ.COM and running September 28-30, will offer three other championship finals including the Palm Beach International Academy North American Junior Equitation Final, the North American Adult Amateur Equitation Championships, and the Taylor Harris Insurance Services National Children’s Medal Finals.
