Capital Challenge 2016 Prize List Now Available!

The official prize list of the 2016 Capital Challenge Horse Show is now available online here. The 23rd annual Capital Challenge Horse Show, presented by the World Equestrian Center, will welcome many of the nation’s top horses and riders to Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD, from October 1-9 for nine days of preeminent hunter, jumper, and equitation competition.
The Capital Challenge Horse Show serves as a major championship destination, and when competition kicks off on October 1, equitation classes will take center stage for the two-day Equitation Weekend, presented by Bigeq.com. Riders will vie for major equitation titles all weekend in the Private Tutoring Services North American Junior Equitation Championships, the Taylor Harris Insurance Services (THIS) National Children’s Medal Finals, and the North American Adult Amateur Equitation Championships.
Headlining the week of hunter and jumper competition, beginning Monday, October 3, are featured classes such as the $25,000 WCHR Professional Challenge, sponsored by the Gochman Family, held on Wednesday, October 5, as well as the much anticipated $5,000 WCHR Professional Finals, held on Friday, October 7 and sponsored by Madison Hills Farm, and the competitive $10,000 Ariat North American Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper Challenge Cup, sponsored by Johnson Horse Transportation, held on Saturday, October 8.
“Thanks to a great group of sponsors and supporters, we’re able to offer finals unlike any other competition in the country,” said Oliver Kennedy, co-manager of the Capital Challenge Horse Show. “We’re fortunate to continually attract many of the best horses and riders in the country, and we’re really looking forward to hosting a high-level of competition again this year.”
The Capital Challenge Horse Show is also unique in hosting the highly popular Future Hunter division, offering $45,000 in prize money throughout the six divisions and in the $25,000 Future Hunter North American Championships, sponsored by the Wheeler Family and Madison Hills Farm, held Wednesday, October 5.
“The Future Hunter division has been extremely well received by riders ever since we first introduced it to the Capital Challenge Horse Show,” said Billy Glass, co-manager of the Capital Challenge Horse Show alongside Kennedy. “It presents riders and owners with a really unique opportunity to showcase their young, up-and-coming hunters and even earn competitive prize money.”
