Beorn, ridden by Alex Granato (USA), was named the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Award recipient during the Lexington International CSI3*, held May 24-28, 2017, at the Split Rock Jumping Tour in Lexington, KY.

Equis Boutique, a luxury tack and apparel shopping experience, sponsors the Best Presented Horse Award at various FEI-sanctioned events throughout the United States.

Split Rock Jumping Tour’s CSI3* Horse Inspection for the Lexington International was held Wednesday, May 24, at Split Rock Farm. Led by President Leslie Brown (USA), the FEI Ground Jury evaluated the appearance and condition of horses jogging for FEI competition, and selected Beorn, a ten-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding (Douglas x Libero H) owned by Alliy Moyer and groomed by Jose Hurtado, as the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Award winner.

“This is an awesome bonus for us,” said Granato, who owns and operates Mad Season, LLC based in Wellington, FL, and Lexington, KY, with fellow professional rider Josh Dolan. “We have a team of four grooms and our manager Bonnie Laurich behind the scenes, and we all take just as much pride in the turnout and presentation of our horses for the ring as we do in their performance.”

Granato thanked Equis Boutique for sponsoring the award, saying, “There are a lot of unsung heroes in this industry, and it takes many people beyond the riders and owners to be ready for each day and each class. It is great to see the people responsible for all that work get some recognition.”

In the show ring, Beorn carried Granato to a top-20 finish in the $35,000 Hollow Creek Farm CSI3* Speed Cup at the Lexington International. Granato has had the ride only a few months and will continue to campaign the gelding as a sale horse throughout the spring and summer season.

Granato was honored for the Equis Best Presented Horse Award in a presentation ceremony during the Lexington International CSI3* with Sara Roth of Equis Boutique.
