Adrienne Sternlicht of the United States won her second Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award during the Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) in Wellington, FL.

Having claimed the award during WEF 1, Sternlicht was again presented with the Leading Lady title on Saturday evening, March 13, during week nine of WEF competition.  Sternlicht accumulated the highest number of points among her fellow female riders in Thursday's $73,000 Adequan® WEF Challenge Round 9 and Saturday’s $401,000 CSI5* Fidelity Investments Grand Prix.  In both classes, Sternlicht rode Cristalline, a 13-year-old Bavarian Warmblood mare (Cristallo 1 x Caretello B) owned by Starlight Farms 1, LLC.  The pair finished fourth in the Grand Prix with a double-clear effort to claim the Leading Lady Rider Award.

“I want to sincerely thank Martha Jolicoeur for sponsoring this award,” said Sternlicht, 27, of Greenwich, CT.  “It is really special for all the female riders in this country to get the recognition.  It was particularly special for me tonight being the only female rider in the jump-off.  Leading Lady is something I always aspire to win, as does every female rider at this show.  I won it in week one, and to win it again during the five-star week with my dream horse is really special.”

In recognition of earning the Leading Lady Rider Award, Sternlicht was presented with a bottle of champagne, a bouquet of flowers, and a gift certificate for a shopping spree at Hunt, Ltd. by Martha W. Jolicoeur representatives Waverly Ernst and Sharon Loayza.

“She felt incredible,” Sternlicht said of Cristalline, the horse she rode as part of the gold medal team at the 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games.  “This horse is the most important thing to me in the world, so it was a really special night.  The last five-star jump-off we rode in was at Dublin in 2018 before the World Championships.”

A sponsor and dedicated supporter of horse sport at WEF, the 2021 season marks Jolicoeur’s 11th year presenting the Leading Lady Rider Award.  She began presenting the award in 2010 as a way of recognizing female accomplishments in an Olympic sport where men and women compete as equals.  A former competitor herself, Jolicoeur enjoyed a successful international show jumping career before becoming Florida’s number one Douglas Elliman real estate broker.

The Martha Jolicoeur Leading Lady Rider Award, given in memory of fellow realtor and horseman Dale Lawler, is presented weekly to the high-score female rider based on performances in the weekly WEF Challenge Cup series and grand prix events.  During the final week of WEF, the Martha Jolicoeur Overall Leading Lady Rider Award will be presented to the female rider who accumulates the most points throughout the season.  So far this season, Erynn Ballard and Tiffany Foster, both of Canada, and American competitors Lucy Deslauriers, Laura Kraut, Beezie Madden, Adrienne Sternlicht, and Kristen VanderVeen have all won the Leading Lady title.
