Aaron Vale (USA) and I Adermie R 4, owned by Lori Osterstock, secured the win in the $75,000 UF Health Grand Prix at World Equestrian Center ¬– Ocala during the Winter Spectacular X show on Saturday, March 12. An international field of riders representing eight different countries contested for the top prize in the WEC Grand Arena under the lights. Bernardo Costa Cabral (POR) designed the course, and nine entries successfully cleared the first round. Vale and the nine-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare were the sixth pair to return for the jump-off and stopped the timers at 38.655 seconds to take the victory.

“I started on a fast gallop to the first fence,” said Vale of his jump-off. “I did one stride more than the other riders from one to two, but I was way inside everyone else’s track to the next vertical. My boot actually hit the standard; that’s how tight of an angle I was on. Then I was super quick to the oxer and the jump across the middle of the ring. After the double combination, I was just able to fly to the last one without hitting the brakes.”

Right behind Vale was Richard Spooner (USA) and Chatinus, owned by Show Jumping Syndications International. The pair stopped the clock at 39.624 to earn second place. Will Simpson (USA) and Coxe Horses LLC’s Whoop De Doo received third place honors with a time of 40.318 seconds.

Bryn Sadler and Cezarro Capture the $10,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix

Bryn Sadler and Cezarro, owned by Showcase 81, LLC, claimed the top prize in the $10,000 Buckeye Nutrition Futures Prix on Saturday in the WEC Grand Arena. Although there was a tight time allowed in the first round, Sadler and the 14-year-old Brandenburg gelding were one of the nine horse-and-rider combinations that cleared the first round with ease to advance straight to the jump-off. The pair stopped the timers at 30.455 seconds to secure the blue ribbon in the class.

“Dorrie [Douglas] went down the first line in five strides,” explained Sadler. “I gave it a go but chickened out last second and got the six. It ended up working out because I was able to land and turn very quickly. He’s amazing at slicing verticals on a gallop, so that was right up our alley. Then we were super quick from the skinny back to the oxer.”
