Leading financial institution, RBC Royal Bank (RBC), will be the presenting sponsor of the RBC Ottawa International CSI5* CSI2* show jumping tournament scheduled from August 11 to 17, 2025, at Wesley Clover Parks in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
RBC has been a steadfast partner with Wesley Clover Parks since its inception in 2014. A diverse green space in the heart of the Nation’s Capital, Wesley Clover Parks is anchored by the Ian Millar School of Horsemanship, offering riding lessons and day camps. Its equestrian competition offerings include dressage, eventing, and show jumping, making it the only venue in Canada to host Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) sanctioned competition in all three Olympic equestrian disciplines.
While fans of horse sport have long associated Wesley Clover Parks with equestrian events, the vision for the 500-acre parkland extends well beyond horse activities. It now offers skiing and cycling trails, a campground, and several sports fields, including a FIFA 2-star standard artificial turf field, that are home to the West Ottawa Soccer Club, the second-largest soccer club in Canada.
“RBC has been with us right from the beginning as a founding sponsor,” said Karen Sparks, Executive Director of Wesley Clover Parks. “Our venue includes the RBC Festival Fields, which host school and charity runs, including the RBC Race for the Kids, as well as concerts and other musical festivals. The RBC Festival Fields also form part of our cross-country course, where we are hosting a two-star eventing competition for the first time this fall.
“Given our deep and long-standing relationship with RBC, I’m thrilled that they are taking the position of title sponsor of our biggest tournament, the Ottawa International,” continued Sparks. “RBC has been growing with us since day one, and it’s incredible for the equestrian community to have this level of commercial sponsorship. We’re very excited.”
Attracting some of the world’s highest-ranked show jumping athletes, the RBC Ottawa International CSI5* CSI2* will be highlighted by the US$340,000 RBC Grand Prix on Sunday, August 17. Other featured classes include the US$32,000 FACES Magazine Opener, the US$70,000 Steel-Craft Grand Prix Qualifier, and the US$75,000 Brookstreet Hotel Winning Round. The CSI2* division is highlighted by the US$35,000 Marks Motors Group Grand Prix on Sunday, August 17.
Marina Azevedo of Brazil will serve as course designer throughout the RBC Ottawa International, setting the challenging tracks on Wesley Clover Parks’ impressive grass grand prix field. The grass grand prix field is one of only a handful remaining in Canada and always draws rave reviews from competitors. It has been refreshed and prepared by Wesley Clover Parks’ agronomist to ensure that it meets Olympic-level show jumping standards.
“RBC is honoured to have supported Wesley Clover Parks from its inception,” said RBC Regional President, Devinder Gill. “Karen Sparks and her team have created a wonderful space, not only for world-class equestrian events, but for all Ottawans to enjoy year round. We are so happy to be the presenting sponsor of RBC Ottawa International, bringing top jumpers from around the world to experience the best of Ottawa.”
For Sparks, RBC’s support is meaningful on many levels.
“Their commitment to Canada and every community they do business in across the country is incredible and admirable,” said Sparks. “In Ottawa, RBC sponsors Bluesfest, the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards, and many other events that are valuable to our community and help to make it a better place. As someone who lives in Ottawa and does business here, that’s important to me. I’m very proud of the relationship we have.”
Adding to the excitement of the RBC Ottawa International, the Spurs & Sparkles Gala, also presented by RBC, will take place on Wednesday evening, August 13. Benefitting the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation, Spurs & Sparkles offers one-of-a-kind entertainment, incredible prizes, and local craft beverages paired with delectable food from the city’s best restaurants and vendors.
