Exceptional Equestrian Talent Set To Thrill During 67th Washington International Horse Show

The 67th Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), presented by MARS Equestrian™, will return to The Show Place Arena at Prince George’s Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro, MD, for a thrilling week of elite hunter/jumper competition from October 20-26, 2025. In addition to prestigious national championship classes, the show will host international show jumping at the five-star level, attracting top talent from around the world, including 10 of the top 25 riders in the world.
The international schedule begins on Thursday, October 23, with the $63,000 International Jumper Welcome Stake and the $63,000 Stars and Stripes Speed Stake, followed by the $63,000 International Jumper Accumulator Costume Class, presented by Turnham Green, on Friday, October 24. The excitement all builds to the $340,000 Longines Jumping World Cup™ Washington CSI5*-W for the President’s Cup on Saturday, October 25, as the impressive field of horse-and-rider combinations will vie for their spot to compete at the 2026 FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Fort Worth, TX, on April 8-12, 2026.
The star-studded lineup is expected to feature world-class athletes from 13 countries, including 13 Olympians and 10 of the top 25 riders in the Fédération Équestre International (FEI) show jumping rankings. Previous winners of the Longines Jumping World Cup™ Washington, 2024 winner Rodrigo Pessoa (BRA), and 2023 winner Katie Dinan (USA) will return for another chance at victory. With both the World No. 1 Kent Farrington (USA) and World No. 2 Ben Maher (GBR) set to attend, the weekend promises fierce head-to-head competition among the world’s best that is not to be missed.
Top U.S. Show Jumping Athletes To Watch at 2025 WIHS
Representing the U.S. is a strong roster of athletes, including multiple Olympic medalists and veteran five-star riders, who will take the stage in hopes of securing victory on home turf. Notable names to watch include:

Kent Farrington:
- FEI Ranking: 1st
- A team silver-medalist of the U.S. Olympic show jumping team, Farrington has recorded an astonishing 14 grand prix wins — eight of those being five-star competitions — which include victory in the Longines Jumping World Cup™ Traverse City in September, the opening leg of the 2025/2026 Longines North American League season

Laura Kraut:
- FEI Ranking: 8th
- Kraut, who has brought home four Olympic team medals during her career, is the first woman in the top 10 since 2021 and is the highest-ranked woman in the FEI show jumping standings

McLain Ward:
- FEI Ranking: 10th
- Ward represented the U.S. at six Olympics since 2004 and won five team medals, including two golds, and won the 2023 FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Omaha, NE

Lillie Keenan:
- FEI Ranking: 30th
- Following an impressive junior career, Keenan earned a spot at the top of the sport as an established five-star rider, bringing home a podium finish from the 2016 FEI Nations Cup Final and victory in the 2025 Mercedes-Benz Nations Cup at CHIO Aachen

- FEI Ranking: 38th
- Vale is one of America’s winningest grand prix riders and has helped the U.S. team win the 2024 Aga Khan Cup in Dublin, Ireland, and the 2025 Longines League of Nations™ Ocala
Joining the slate of veteran athletes will be a handful of strong young riders who are hungry for a win. Though they may lack the decades of experience that legends like Ward and Kraut have, these emerging stars have already proven that they can play on the international field and will be ones to watch next week at WIHS.
- Alessandra Volpi: At 25 years old, Volpi has already cracked the top 100 riders in the world, sitting in the 73rd spot. In 2025, Volpi rode on the U.S. teams at the 2025 Longines League of Nations™ St. Tropez and the series finale in Barcelona, Spain
- Alex Matz: The 29-year-old rider won the 2024 FEI Jumping World Cup™ Toronto and has multiple top-10, five-star finishes in 2025 and was a part of the Longines League of Nations™ teams in Barcelona, Spain, and St. Tropez, France, alongside Volpi
- Mimi Gochman: Gochman, 21, has performed well in 2025 with three top-five finishes in five-star grand prix competitions in addition to helping the U.S. Jumping Team win the Traverse City Nations Cup CSIO3*
- Skylar Wireman: The 21-year-old rider won individual and team gold medals at the 2025 FEI North American Youth Championship Young Riders and then helped the U.S. win the FEI Jumping Youth Nations Cup Final in Belgium, adding to her resume this year along with strong five-star results
