Canadian show jumping athlete Julia Tops, 20, has been selected to represent Samshield as one of the leading helmet company’s young equestrian ambassadors.
As the daughter of Canadian Show Jumping Team veteran Tani Zeidler and Jan Tops, an Olympic gold medalist for the Netherlands and the founder of the Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT), show jumping was a natural choice for Julia. The Calgary, Alberta, native recently spent the summer successfully competing in the CSI1* and CSI2* divisions of the LGCT aboard Delacroix AS, Sire One, and India Blue ZF, a 12-year-old mare (Mr. Blue x Calvados IV) bred by her mother’s Zeidler Farm.
Whether competing in the show ring or jump schooling at home, Julia makes safety a top priority and always wears a helmet when she’s in the saddle. Upon first trying a Samshield helmet, Julia fell in love with its comfort, appearance, safety, and durability.
“It’s important to me first and foremost to know that the helmet is safe and is going to protect me should something happen,” said Julia, who is currently in her final year of studies at the University of Toronto. “I also want the helmet to be comfortable and something that I can feel good about myself in because it’s something that I spend a lot of time wearing."
For Julia, Samshield fit the bill perfectly, as the philosophy of Samshield is to offer products that provide advanced technology, active and passive safety, comfort, hygiene, high quality materials, a superior quality of finish, and customization.
“At Samshield, we like to recognize young talent and work with the next generation of riders coming up the ranks,” said Samshield representative Nico Gravet. “We hope to support them and to grow together, working in confidence for the long term. We’re looking forward to working with Julia for years to come.”
In addition to Samshield, Julia is proud to represent Amerigo Saddles, Kingsland Equestrian, and Parlanti.
