Basje, ridden by Harold Chopping (CAN), was named the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Award recipient for the third time during the Upperville Colt & Horse Show CSI4*, held June 5-11, 2017, in Upperville, VA.
Equis Boutique, a luxury tack and apparel shopping experience, sponsors the Best Presented Horse Award at various FEI-sanctioned events throughout the United States.
The FEI horse inspection for the Upperville Colt & Horse Show CSI4* was held Wednesday, June 7, led by FEI Ground Jury President Lloyd Longenecker (USA). The Ground Jury evaluated the appearance and condition of horses jogging for FEI competition, and selected Basje, an 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding (Larino x Lando) owned by Kendra Bullington, and groom Salvador Navor, as the Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Award winner.
Basje also brought home Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Awards from the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) in Mill Spring, NC, earlier this spring at the Tryon May I CSI2* and at the Tryon Fall VI CSI3* in 2016.
“It is always nice to have my staff recognized for the hard work that they put into these horse shows,” said Chopping of his three Equis Boutique Best Presented Horse Awards. “There is so much attention to detail that is put into every aspect of getting to the ring.
“At a big four-star horse show like Upperville, you really want to stand out,” continued Chopping. “So, to be acknowledged for the effort that is put in from beginning to end feels really great”
Of Navor, who has been working with him for almost five years, Chopping noted, “He couldn’t stop smiling when he found out he won again. He doesn’t take the horses to the jog or the ring with awards in mind, but is always special for him to be recognized for his hard work.”
In the show ring, Basje carried Chopping to a top-20 placing in the featured $216,000 Upperville Jumper Classic CSI4* on Sunday, June 11. Basje, Chopping, and Navor will soon return to TIEC for back-to-back weeks of international jumper competition during Tryon Summer V and VI.
Chopping and Navor were honored for the Equis Best Presented Horse Award in a presentation ceremony following the $216,000 Upperville Jumper Classic CSI4* at the Upperville Colt & Horse Show with Alex West of Equis Boutique.
